Agastache-five elements
Huoxiang (Agastache rugosa) belongs to yang within yang. It mainly corresponds to the Earth element and concurrently to the Metal element. It can regulate the spleen and stomach, disperse lung qi, etc., based on the generation and restriction of the Five Elements. It has classic combinations, which are also confirmed by modern research, and its medicinal value is well-documented in literatures。

In the theory of the Book of Changes, the part of Huoxiang used as medicine is from the “Zhen” and “Xun” positions above the ground, and the harvesting avoids the “Li”, “Qian”, and “Dui” natures.
