Wind-dispelling:

Mint leaves are cool in nature and pungent in taste; they dispel wind-heat in the upper energizer, relieve headache, sore throat, fever with mild aversion to wind caused by wind-heat cold, and help expel pathogenic factors from the exterior.

Eye-clearing:

Its pungent and cool qi reaches the head and eyes, clears stagnant heat there, improves red, swollen and painful eyes as well as dizziness caused by wind-heat attacking upward, and refreshes the head and eyes.

Liver-soothing:

It enters the Liver Meridian, relieves liver qi stagnation, eases hypochondriac distension and pain, belching and poor appetite caused by liver stagnation, helps liver qi flow smoothly, and improves emotional depression.

Damp-clearing

It clears damp-heat in the lower energizer, relieves yellow and reddish urine, stranguating and painful urination caused by damp-heat downward flow, as well as nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension and diarrhea caused by summer dampness.

Five elements

In TCM, mint leaves are cool in nature (belonging to Yin), pungent in taste, enter the Lung Meridian and belong to Lung Metal; they clear and moisten Lung Metal, dispel lung Qi, balance Lung Metal imbalance, and help harmonize Yin-Yang and Five Elements.

Mint leaves are cool in nature and pungent in taste, with effects such as dispersing wind – heat. Their growth characteristics match those of the Zhen Gua. In the Zhen Gua, one yang moves beneath two yins, similar to the initial emergence of mint’s vitality in nature, symbolizing new life and vitality.
